aj,

looks high to me. but i'm not researching it and i'm sure you are. you did not mention warranty or brand name. with dell i get 24/7 tech support (try to assign a value to that) and a three year warranty. the first year includes on site, next-business-day repair. i paid an extra $99 and extended the on site next day coverage for the full three years. that comes out to .14 cents a day for a repairman to come to me to fix whatever goes wrong. ordinarily i hate extended warranty maintenance agreements, but this made perfect sense. and the 24/7 tech support is for the life of the machine. i sold one of my xps166mhz dells to a friend and she simply reregisters with dell and now she can call for tech support. AND dell provides tech support for win98 since it's factory installed. i believe this last feature may be closer to an industry standard than not, but i recommend that anyone considering purchasing a machine inquire with the seller as to their policy on this.

back to your list of goodies... the ram should get upgraded to 128mb.

all jmho.

:)

mark

looks a little high to me to especially if it is before taxes.

i recently bought a PIII-667, 128MB, 20GB, Creative SBLive. no burner or software but everything else looks about the same as yours for just under $3000 after tax.

if you're not interested in 24/7 tech support and are looking to pay the least amount of money, PM me and i can point you to a place in toronto.

(i'm just assuming that you live in/near toronto cuz anyone who's anyone in canada lives in toronto right? ;) )

cheers,
fred

(am i gonna get it for that last comment? i was a joke!!....kinda)
