ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 17, 2000--

Ships Industry's First System Security Assessment Software for
Windows 2000 Professional and Windows 2000 Server

Internet Security Systems (ISS) (NASDAQ:ISSX.O) today announced
its support of the Microsoft(R) (NASDAQ:MSFT.O) Windows(R) 2000
computing platform and the availability of System Scanner(TM) 4.0,
ISS' leading SAFEsuite security assessment software for managing the
security of critical systems, for Windows 2000 Professional and
Windows 2000 Server.
ISS continues its leadership in helping customers manage their
enterprise security by introducing System Scanner 4.0 Agent, the first
system security assessment solution for Windows 2000 Professional and
Windows 2000 Server.
"As organizations begin to leverage the power of Windows 2000 as
a critical platform for web, database and application services within
their enterprise and e-business solutions, ISS is providing a powerful
solution for automating the overall security management of Windows
2000," said Nick Connor, System Scanner product manager for ISS. "We
applaud Microsoft's efforts in providing the industry's most robust,
built-in security functionality and look forward to helping Microsoft
customers maximize these important new capabilities."

ISS System Scanner 4.0 Agent for Windows 2000

System Scanner can help system administrators take advantage of
new security features in Windows 2000 by assuring proper configuration
and easily identifying errors that could potentially open up security
risks. While Windows 2000 offers many powerful security features,
managing them securely adds the challenge of additional complexity.
System Scanner 4.0 provides a solution to managing these challenges
and helps further educate users on the valuable security features
inherent in Windows 2000.
System Scanner can be integrated into the deployment of new
Windows 2000 systems, ensuring a high level of security throughout the
deployment process, and reducing management costs. System Scanner
includes new security risk detection capabilities or "vulnerability
checks" specifically focused on the configuration of Windows 2000
environments. System Scanner users will also gain access to updated
security risk detection capabilities through timely and easily
downloadable ISS X-Press Updates.

ISS Internet Scanner and SAVANT Knowledge Service for Windows 2000

ISS is leveraging its years of Windows security expertise to
incorporate customized Windows 2000 security detection capabilities
into its SAFEsuite security assessment solutions including its network
security assessment solution, Internet Scanner(TM), as well as its
Education and SAVANT Knowledge Services. As networks rapidly evolve
with the constant addition of new applications and users, ISS
knowledge and SAFEsuite security assessment solutions for Windows 2000
will ensure that customers are alerted to potential security
weaknesses that may result from updates to their networks, systems and
applications.
The ISS SAVANT Security Service, a core ISS knowledge service
offering and the first comprehensive Microsoft Windows NT security
management guide, will add a Windows 2000 Security Management Service
based on research and testing by a team of ISS security experts. ISS
will also incorporate expertise gained from its work with Microsoft on
the upcoming Microsoft Windows 2000 security book, Microsoft(R)
Windows(R) 2000 Security Technical Reference. In addition, ISS has
recently published an evaluation of Windows 2000 security that is
available at.www.iss.net/W2K.

Availability

ISS System Scanner 4.0 Agent for Windows 2000 is available now.
An updated version of ISS Internet Scanner for Windows 2000 (version
6.1) is currently in development and expected to be available in
