Supposedly high memory costs and the high cost of spinning off Agilent Tech hurt their bottom line according to analysts. HWP paints a rosy future so being down 7 is over kill.

Arnie, there are multiple possible reasons:

1. The stock had a huge run-up in the last quarter.
2. Sell on news.
3. Some are not convinced that the report was that exciting.
4. Operating margins sucked.
5. Merrill was less than enthusiastic.
6. Unix still "slowly" expanding.
7. Realization that HP is really a printer company.
8. Confusion over the actual quarterly eps.
9. Honeymoon with Carly over.
10.In this market, any time is a good time to take profits.

Take your pick. I think the downturn will be short in duration.
