From Jochen's Linked Article: "A new high-speed network via the local power grid would also render Deutsche Telekom's stonewalling in selling off its TV cable network -- a potential broadband competitor -- irrelevant as well."

Jochen and Thread- I find it amazingly similar how Europe is just about one year or so behind the US market in telecommunications infrastructure spending. For years, the large US telephone companies(ILECs and RBOCs) had been playing games very similar to what is happening in Europe today. The ONLY thing that stopped the game playing was over 1 million cable modem users, and the rapid rise of LMDS revenues. I would say about one year ago the DSL rollouts via the Bell monopolies started in a big way. I see Europe going through a very similar situation.

Whether it be broadband wireless(LMDS), powerline, cable plant, or even the government, anything to force the likes of France Telecom, Deutsche Telekom, Telecom Italia, etc., to reduce access costs, and deploy broadband to their customers is exciting. -MikeM(From Florida)
