MSB, you asked me about my personal experience. And brokerage fees was only one of the examples I brought up. Why not talk about cars or PCs. Here are some more examples: Do you have a cell phone? Do you know what it used to cost a few years back? I don't know about your area of the country, but in South Florida electricity costs are way down compared to the reported rate of inflation. I travel overseas at least once a year. My ticket costs have been stable or dropping. I think that people like you who somehow think they pay a lot more than the reported inflation rate forget or take for granted all the information era goods and services that cost a lot less today than a few years back.
