Dear Peter: I am following COST carefully. Only reason its down is all the Retail stocks which have supposedly high PE ratios are sinking. The thought is that higher interest rates slow the economy resulting in less sales. In my judgement JUST THE OPPOSITE could be expected in a warehouse store situation where goods cost LESS than regular stores but COST is classed in the retail sector and is so effected. Could be an excellent buy opportunity presenting itself. JDN

Retailers are under extreme pressure. As usual, investors are overreacting when it comes to Costco...as the business remains fairly bulletproof (I would venture to guess even through a mild recession).
