You must have gotten trapped in a really bad trade but you shouldn't take it out on the people on the thread, or CPQ for that matter, imho. I remember that you used to participate in our "guess the earnings/share price" games. El

Victor,

I can appreciate your wanting to stimulate the conversation on this thread. My preference is to discuss realistic scenarios, and Compaq selling itself is not, let alone to CMGI. I think Compaq is a very strong company who's reputation has been temporarily damaged. Your comment sounded more like Compaq bashing than anything else. And, regarding whether Compaq could have gotten a better deal or not, don't forget that CMGI was courting Lucos at the time and was probably positioning that as an alternative to Alta Vista during the negotiations.

As far as intellectually stimulating conversation goes, what do you think about HP spinning off its test and measurement division and creating a separate computer company? Have they positioned themselves for a merger or sale?

Regards,

NR
