The metal silicates add oxygen to metals such as titanium or zirconium. He said some researchers are looking at ferroelectric materials for very dense

Mr. McIlvaine seems to be unclear on the distinction between gate dielectric and intermetal dielectric. No one in their right mind wants to use ferroelectrics to meet the *low* dielectric constant requirements of interconnects, but ferroelectrics *are* a candidate to meet the *high* dielectric constant requirements of gate oxides. Both applications pose severe problems, but gate dielectrics are the most likely show stopper.
