Ashanti wins hedge book margin reprieve
LONDON, Feb 18 (Reuters) - Ghanaian mining company Ashanti Goldfields Co Ltd has won a reprieve from its hedge counterparty banks from posting margins calls on its loss-making gold derivative contracts, a company spokesman said on Friday.

Ashanti, which clinched a rescue deal based on a reformed board earlier this week, previously had a standstill agreement with the parties that expired on February 17.

The company gave no further details of the hedge book deal
