hello telcomguy, perhaps i don't understand the utility of this. may i ask - out of ignorance, not to imply an opinion - how would it work with clfy or promatory? say a client needs the sort of service clfy or promatory offers. so he calls one or the other. and clfy, say, arranges the service, and because it is now integrated with a nortel network, it all works seamlessly. conversely he gets a bid from xyz, a clfy competitor, and uses them. and xyz arranges the service which come to the guy over a lucent or ciena network. there, xyz pays cien to carry its service - not integrated with cien, but the client doesn't care, as long as it's cheap and efficient. so, what difference did the alliance with nt do for clfy and vice versa. in point of fact, in real life, the client will be on a nortel network already, and the fact that nortel can offer him clfy or promatory won't affect the decision to be on the network because he's already on the network. or he's on a lucent network already, and he won't leave it to get clfy's services.

i've probably missed some synergy. as i write that word i remember the conglomerates used to say that. they're all gone. anyway, nt is still by far my largest position.

i wish mr roth could be asked about this. but those analysts seem only able to ask, "uh, john, could you tll us why cost of sales was .05% higher this year?"
