ACTV's HyperTV Networks Signs Major Content Development Contract With New York State Education Department
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 18, 2000--ACTV's (NASDAQ: IATV - news) HyperTV Networks today announced that it has signed a contract with the New York State Education Department worth in excess of $830,000 for its HyperTV©-based eSchool© Online software.

The New York State Education Department will utilize HyperTV for the creation and delivery of customized professional development content for VESID. Earlier this week, ACTV announced an agreement for HyperTV with Teleac/NOT, the market leader in educational television broadcasting in The Netherlands.

``HyperTV continues to provide those in both the education and entertainment communities with the most advanced and effective method for combining TV and video programming with the Internet, taking advantage of the investments made in Internet and video delivery infrastructures worldwide,' said Bruce Crowley, President, ACTV's HyperTV Networks. ``We're thrilled to have reached this new agreement with New York State, and look forward to the continued rapid growth of HyperTV.'

eSchool uses ACTV's patented HyperTV© convergence software to integrate streamed video, the automatic delivery of relevant web content, online collaboration and embedded assessment to provide a web-based software environment that will allow for the scaleable delivery of professional development and training content to VESID employees statewide. The distribution of the content through eSchool will enable VESID to collect relevant and timely data from employees utilizing the content. The series will be accessible on-demand by VESID employees equipped with multimedia computers connected to the Internet. The on-demand experience can also be supplemented by scheduled online collaborative events using eSchool's live, mediated-chat functionality.

eSchool content can be easily created or modified for adoption in other states or countries, given the flexibility of eSchool's authoring environment.

ACTV's HyperTV Networks is an application and content service provider in The SchoolTone Alliance Program. The SchoolTone Alliance Program, led by Sun Microsystems, is a joint marketing and sales effort designed to create high-quality portals that provide affordable and easy-to-access Internet content, communication tools, and applications targeting K-12 schools. The program brings together best-of-breed web-based educational content, portal technologies, applications, and services deployed through education service providers to K-12 schools.

VESID, the Office of Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities, is a part of the New York State Education Department. VESID helps people with disabilities, who are eligible for vocational rehabilitation (VR) services, to find and keep suitable employment.
