Can't we all just get along??

It's Gates or *be Gates in this world, baby. <g>

I'm pretty sure Sun provoked this epicurian hostility with many previous suggestions that M$ "eat" one thing or another.

You make a good point, Frank. Right now, SUNW & M$FT
are mostly in different market segments from one
another. Not much overlap except in the low-end office
market.

The problem is M$FT has pretensions of getting into the
corporate enterprise market where they have been stung
by criticism from all sides about their incompetence
as a software company when it comes to servers.

They also know that they need to DO SOMETHING FAST, because
the desktop market in business and at home is under
significant pressure now from internet-enabled devices
of all kinds, none of which seem to run anything written
by M$FT.

All this bravado from Ballmer proves that his company
is being squeezed from all sides and they need to show
that they still "have it".

While he squeals like a stuck pig and John Dowd accuses
the DOJ and SUNW of collusion to destroy M$FT, the world
still goes on. M$FT's continued success will depend on
the quality of the W2K product and not anyone's personal
vendettas.
