<embedded story>

Did you know that a lot of card readers use Z80s, and that Hubble was recently upgraded to use 80486s? Some embedded applications need a lot of processing power and some don't.

MONACO - Re: "Pentium processors unveiled for embedded apps"

Hard to say.

Intel may just be floating a trial balloon - to see if anybody notices.

They have many times attempted similar embedded ventures for almost every other one of their x86 product lines. Only the 386 line seems to have had any kind of success.

Intel already has a plethora of other embedded processors - 8096/196/296, 80251, StronARM, i960 series, etc.

My guess is that Intel isn't really serious at this point.
