Harvey, if you get the chance, take a look at the March "Wired". Not available online until April, probably. There's a big article by John Heilemann about the suit. Mostly about Joel Klein running around Silicon Valley trying to get anybody to take a stand publicly in favor of "structural remedies". No takers, about the best he could come up with was Steve Jobs consenting if someone of "equal stature" would do it also. Allegedly, the only person Jobs considered adequate in stature was Andy Grove. As if "Only the Paranoid Survive" Andy would ever remotely consider such a thing.

On Bill's "open source" offer, all I can do is yawn. It'd be a benefit to Microsoft if they got somebody outside the company looking into the 64k "known issues" in NT2K, but given the past negotiating leaks and ruses, I wouldn't put much stock in the trial balloon without a lot more detail.

Cheers, Dan.
