what this will do to the first quarter earnings??
(WEBM IS UP 100 PTS)
It will do nothing unless they sell. Still it is a good addition to the asset base (and book value).

I heard about a pep-rally meeting yesterday at the IBM plant. They were getting the employees all fired up. The exec said "we've got to get all bug-eyed about success like those folks across the street at Dell".

Kemble, WEBM will not affect earnings unless Dell sells the stock.

Even then, it would be deleted from the earnings number as a one time gain.

Dell needs to sell, sell, sell!!!

Hi Kemble, re:<<.....DELL OWNS A 10.2% STAKE OF WEBMETHODS (WEBM)
.....AUSTIN STATESMAN ANNOUNCED LAST FRIDAY AFTER THE IPO THAT DELL MADE $494 MILLION THE FIRST DAY...
.....SINCE THEN WEBM IS UP 100 PTS....

Any idea Drew what this will do to the first quarter earnings?? :o) :o) :o)>>

I suspect the profits from these investments won't really help Dell as they are not profits from operations. I believe these investment profits are shown under "other income". The Analysts are really interested in profits from operations. Let's not forget that Dell is still a computer company, not an investment company. JMO

Hi Kemble!! Has anyone here had experience with EducateU?

educateu.com

Learning from Dell....its great! Probably old news for most here, but...maybe some lurkers?

I've already went through a couple of courses, and solved a couple of application problems with their chat rooms.
