Re: "Ten, anything more you can say about "Fireball"?

I'm not Ten but what the hell...

I can tell you that "Fireball" is some kind of new circuit design that is Ultra Fast. Willamette is (I believe) it's first appearance. It would go a long way to explain how Intel could achieve 3 GHz operation in some small blocks. Now you know as much as I do. Will we see FireBall in larger blocks of logic????

Tony - I'm not Ten either, but here is a very cursory summary I posted after I was enlightened yesterday. Doesn't say a whole lot, but you asked.

EDIT: I don't understand all the circuitry stuff anyway, but I do understand the discrete performance of the transistors. It literally had my jaw dropping.

Tony, <Ten, anything more you can say about "Fireball"?>

Unfortunately, I don't know much about the details. Everything I say is speculation, except what is already announced. My thoughts were in response to a person who thought the 2x ALU was analogous to double-pumping a data bus, or having different execution units run at different edges of the clock. Both theories don't make any sense (at least not in my mind).
