eplace, I got to agree, though you left out PB. I've read a lot of stuff about the IDF, just out of personal interest, and the level of detail is, uh, strangely lacking. But we got Elmer and PB, apparently Intel employees, spending endless time here elaborating on that strangely lacking detail with vague hints about what's "really" going on. What's really going on, as near as anybody can tell, is that Intel's still got a problem shipping .8ghz cumines, though there may be some .75ghz parts available Pricewatch at least has an entry for the .8 part now, though. What's really going on with Elmer, as near as I can tell, has to do mostly with FUD, not Fudd. 800mhz Pentium III listing from pricewatch.com:brook.pricewatch.com @ctd+3+AND+@contents+PENTIUM*+AND+@contents+III*+AND+@contents+800*&catd=3&cn=Microprocessors+PC&cr=Microprocessors+PC+Pentium+III+800&n=33&CiCodePage=Windows-1252&a=2 Again a few places seem to have 750s now.brook.pricewatch.com @ctd+3+AND+@contents+PENTIUM*+AND+@contents+III*+AND+@contents+750*&catd=3&cn=Microprocessors+PC&cr=Microprocessors+PC+Pentium+III+750&n=9&CiCodePage=Windows-1252&a=2 For comparison, Athlon 850 listings, ETA week of 2/28 they say:rook.pricewatch.com @ctd+3+AND+@contents+AMD*+AND+@contents+ATHLON*+AND+@contents+850*+AND+@contents+3DNOW*+AND+@contents+K7*&catd=3&cn=Microprocessors+PC&cr=Microprocessors+PC+AMD+Athlon+850+3DNow+K7&n=40&CiCodePage=Windows-1252&a=2 Plus oodles and oodles of Athlon 800's:brook.pricewatch.com @ctd+3+AND+@contents+AMD*+AND+@contents+ATHLON*+AND+@contents+800*+AND+@contents+3DNOW*+AND+@contents+K7*&catd=3&cn=Microprocessors+PC&cr=Microprocessors+PC+AMD+Athlon+800+3DNow+K7&n=37&CiCodePage=Windows-1252&a=2 The role reversal continues, good for AMD. And as I said elsewhere, I still fondly remember the old "Intel does not comment on unannounced products" line, too bad the definition of what constitutes an announcement has gotten pretty erratasized. Cheers, Dan.
