>>>Is this just unwarranted thoughts on my part?

Well, comments from ABN AMRO and Bank One were positive. Not to mention Citi is really out of the picture at this point. Other than owning some CheckFree stock (which is true for all Integrion banks), there are really no ties between CheckFree and Citi.

Not to mention most of the contracts with Banks are done deals. Any new bank consortium will be too late, Spectrum is the only hope.

>>>I think the fourth they were referring to is Spectrum(albiet, hardly a competitor right now, and doubtfully ever will).

Actually way back, there was an article (I'll look for it) about the Four Horsemen of Banking. I think the fourth was Scott Cook, but I'm not sure.

CKFR article on the front page to the Marketplace section of the WSJ, Pete's likeness and all. All in all a good article. My read FWIW:
- young industry
- slow adoption by banks
- CKFR w/ Transpoint merger should speed up adoption
- talks about pricing, portals, banks, billers and spectrum - in error says spectrum is trying to compete in the payment area which I believe is wrong, presentment only for now

There are positives and negatives in the article, but the exposure is awesome.

August, Found the article. Here's the first Paragraph...

The Four Horsemen of the Banking Apocalypse

There must be a common nightmare that trouble the sleep of bankers. In it, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse ride across the financial services landscape. They level bank branches, haul of ATMs, wreak havoc with payment systems, and snare the online consumer, leaving dis-Intermediation, new competitors, and reduced franchise values in their wake. It is an Image that sends bankers screaming out of their sleep.

Who are these Four Horsemen of the Banking Apocalypse? None other than Gates, Cook, Kight, and Duques, In the saddles of Microsoft, Intuit, CheckFree, and First Data, respectively.

Benny(Seems to me the Four Horsemen are now in the CheckFree Chariot)
