Tom -- I see no reason for this possible deal to be held up until Q results are announced or later. I would just as soon not give analysts, journalists, and traders any more opportunity to spin, manipulate or mutilate value.

I get really tired reading stories filled with nothing but info from unknown sources

What could possibly be unknown to Alcatel and Newbridge today that will be known on Tuesday?

I think "the analyst" is spewing re. dilutive aspects of NN being acquired.

And, while I have no way of knowing the "right" price, I'm in no way convinced that rumored price is a "good" price.

Have to run to a meeting -

Mike

But the analyst said that any Newbridge buy would have a dilutive impact of between
five and ten percent on Alcatel EPS in 2000, be neutral in 2002 and only positive from
2003.

How come it will be dilutive when NN will save about 250 million Cd, (
0.60 eps US) from outsourcing and cost cuting.

Somewone want to buy ALA at discount.
