Robertson Stephens Reiterates Buy Rating, Raises Estimates on BRCD

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 18, 2000--Robertson Stephens Managing Director and Senior Communications/Networking Analyst Paul Johnson today reiterated his Buy rating and raised estimates on Brocade Communications (NASDAQ:BRCD - news), after the company reported strong fiscal first quarter results. Brocade, based in San Jose, Calif., is one of the pioneering vendors in the market for Fibre Channel with its offering of high-end Fibre Channel switches.

``We are reiterating our Buy rating on Brocade Communications, after the company reported fiscal first quarter revenues of $42.7 million and earnings-per-share of $0.12, versus our estimates of $26 million and $0.09, respectively,' said Johnson. ``Revenues grew an impressive 42 percent sequentially and 434 percent year-over-year. The strength in the quarter was due to continued strong growth in OEM sales of Fibre Channel-based storage equipment and the beginning of the company's systems integrator business.'

``We are raising our revenue and earnings-per-share estimates for fiscal 2000 and fiscal 2001 to reflect the better-than-expected financial performance in the January quarter, the increasing visibility Brocade has into its customer base, and the overall outlook for the Fibre Channel market,' said Johnson.
