Wall Street Access Announces Alliances with Compaq and Intel
Business Wire - February 18, 2000 09:17
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 18, 2000--Wall Street Access, the New York-based brokerage firm, announced today that it is working with both Intel Corporation and Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ) to provide new on-line trading solutions to sophisticated investors.

"We are very pleased that Compaq and Intel are offering their first on-line trading products and are happy to be working with them as they enter this market," said Eric Alexander, Co-Chief Operating Officer, Wall Street Access.

"Wall Street Access has some of the most knowledgeable and demanding customers in the business and we believe these investors will benefit from this innovative workstation solution," said Ed Ellett, Vice President and GM of Compaq's Workstation Division. "Technology previously available only to professional investors is now being offered to online investors at a great value."

Compaq is offering Wall Street Access customers who purchase a Deskpro Workstation AP250 and a selected Compaq Monitor a $200 rebate, which will be matched by $200 in trading credits from Wall Street Access for a total savings of $400. The Deskpro Workstation AP250 is designed to keep the online investor up to speed with fast moving markets and complex financial information. For example, its high-performance graphics easily handle multimedia applications and simultaneous windows distributed across two high-resolution displays.

The Intel Pentium(R) III processor delivers leadership performance with compute intensive analysis applications, handles media-rich Internet applications and speeds the processing of real-time feeds. The Deskpro Workstation AP250 comes with Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 4.0 and will provide access, via a customized version of Microsoft Internet Explorer, to financial information and analysis by AltaVista, including a direct link to the RagingBull.com home page and links to other Web-based information of value to the online investor.

Working with Intel Corporation, through its newly formed New Market Development group, Wall Street Access will assist the firm in its effort to focus on improving the tools and services available to today's online investors. Recently, Wall Street Access and Intel co-presented a course to online traders at the Intel Developers Forum and the two firms will continue to work together to educate investors on the use of these new technologies.

"Serious online investors' demand for the latest technology is driven by their constantly increasing analysis and decision support needs. In this environment, the powerful Intel-based workstations combined with Wall Street Access brokerage services provide an edge to their users. Working with innovators in the field of online investing, Intel will help drive the development of these leading edge tools that will find their way to the desk of serious online investors," said Anand Chandrasekher, Vice President and General Manager of Intel's Workstation Products Group.

Bringing together online investing solutions results in highly integrated, highly reliable, and high performance solutions for all online investors, but will be particularly useful to firms like Wall Street Access who provide solutions for sophisticated investors. "Tightly integrated and high performance solutions built around Intel-based workstations mean that our clients can quickly analyze the complex data and perform financial modeling required to make informed trades," said Eric Alexander, of Wall Street Access. Wall Street Access is a leader in providing high-quality service, personalized attention and electronic trading to the growing market of individual traders and professional money managers. Founded in 1981, Wall Street Access is a member of the NYSE, NASD and SIPC. Wall Street Access clears trades through Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown.
