Boston Communications Group Reaches Two Million Subscriber Mark Prepaid Market Leader Doubles Base Year Over Year

Boston Communications Group Reaches Two Million Subscriber Mark Prepaid
Market Leader Doubles Base Year Over Year

WOBURN, Mass., Feb 14, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Boston Communications
Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:BCGI) today announced it has doubled its prepaid
wireless subscriber base, reaching two million - in less than
12-months. BCGI attributes the 100 percent, year-over-year growth to
their expanded nationwide roaming network, real-time rating
capabilities and the increasing commitment to prepaid programs from
wireless carrier customers.

According to David Berndt, Director at the Yankee Group, "BCGI
currently serves approximately forty percent of the overall prepaid
subscriber market in the United States today."

"As carriers continue to invest in this product segment and
aggressively market to new audiences, we can only anticipate greater
milestones in the near future," said E.Y. Snowden, President and CEO of
Boston Communications Group, Inc. "There's no question that renewing
contracts with prominent carriers such as Bell Atlantic Mobile and
Rogers AT&T Wireless adds to the momentum. And, new customers like
Cincinnati Bell Wireless, who launched an aggressive marketing campaign
targeted at the youth segment, have advanced the prepaid market as
well."

Snowden added that BCGI's Prepaid Connection, a new prepaid
architecture for carriers in small to mid-size markets, would broaden
the reach of prepaid wireless.

Boston Communications Group Inc., (NASDAQ: BCGI) is the leading
provider of prepaid services to wireless carriers in North and South
America. Founded in 1988, BCGI provides wireless carriers with a range
of resources and support services targeted to address the unique needs
of this growing industry. BCGI provides one or more of its services to
nine of the top ten wireless carriers in the United States, who
generate over 75 percent of industry revenues, plus more than 80
additional carriers. Each service plays an integral role in the
Company's mission: to help wireless carriers focus resources on their
areas of expertise while improving quality, enhancing revenue and
controlling costs. Please visit BCGI's web site at bcgi.net.

This press release contains, in addition to historical information,
forward-looking statements that involve risks and uncertainties,
including statements regarding the continued growth of prepaid
subscribers and the continued expansion of BCGI's market position. Such
statements are based on management's current expectations and are
subject to a number of uncertainties and risks that could cause actual
results to differ materially from those described in the
forward-looking statements. Among the important factors that would
cause actual results to differ materially from those indicated by such
forward-looking statements are significant decreases in business from
major customers, declines in demand for the Company's services and
systems both domestically and internationally, lack of acceptance of
the prepaid wireless service and systems, the ability of the Company to
successfully support its C2C network, unforeseen outages in the
Company's C2C network, the ability of the Company's carrier customers
to successfully market and sell C2C wireless prepaid service, general
global economic conditions, and the risk factors detailed from time to
time in the Company's periodic reports filed with the Securities and
Exchange Commission.
