Like Rodney King said " Can't we all get along"--JPR

NYTimes, in its editorial page endorsed Clinton's view:
At his news conference on Wednesday, Mr. Clinton said a final decision about going to Pakistan would be based on whether such a trip promised to contribute to stability in the region.

The editorial goes on to say:
A visit would make sense only if it can lead to significant steps on nuclear restraint by India and pakistan.
Suggests:
General should speed up his timetable for a return to democracy. ....assure due process for Sharif.
Pakistan should carry out the pledge to do more to stop Islamic extremists from waging war on its soil.

NYTimes goes on to say: paraphrase
that Indians got ****** off by Pakistan's hand in Kargil, and hijacking of an Indian Airlines Jet on Dec. 24, the military coup in Oct.99.
(Add to that - my statement
The mindless first-use threat of nuclear weapon on India and of course the Kashmir issue.)

A trip to pakistan without concrete progress would send the wrong signal to other trouble spots about the seriousness of American opposition to military coups and reckless intervention in the problems of neighboring country.

By resolution of Kashmir issue, does the Pakistan Govt mean that it wants the Indian State of Kashmir, all of it lock stock and barrell, just because the majority of citizens are muslims? Oh yes it wants a plebiscite. What about the 150 million Muslim Indian Citizens living in secular India? It wants a plebicite there too. The next thing we know is that pakistan would demand a third of the Indian territory adjoining Pakistan given to 150 million Indian Muslims - another exodus- and annexing the land and people to Pakistan. What comes next? There is no end to the insanity of the underacheiver. Pakistan Govt lost so many wars with India, but it keeps on coming for another one. But this time it will be bad for both India and pakistan and a nuclear winter for pakistan. Oh yes, it is the honor it lost in the wars that the Govt wants to recapture. Forget, Forgive and live in peace with your neighbor. Like Rodney King said " Can't we all get along"
