Jim, Then agin, what operating system is Mikey D going use? I suppose W2k but the consumer version of that is off in the distance. There is even another version of W9x due in May. Does Linux ssupport multiprocessors? I think so...

I don't know about Linux (I also think that it does), but WindowME will not support SMP. If you want SMP (from MSFT) you'll need NT or W2k.

I think W2K is the replacement of NT. Dual works well with NT so I think Intel may have something here. However, I though eMachine are for home use and Windows Millennium does not need dual. Like I had said, some people thinks 2 is better than one when one will crap out and one for backup. It is like a single person who buys a car with 4 doors.

Re: Does Linux ssupport multiprocessors? I think so...

There's a brief article on Linux SMP in the current (March) issue of Linux Journal. It's The Cutting Edge column for the month on page 54.

SMP for Linux has been available for a couple of years, but it's not quite as simple as it is in NT - though I've seen utomp hose systems :-(

Regards,

Dan
