I myself own both EWH and GCH. EWH for a play on Hong Kong which has done nicely for me and is expected to continue with steady progress. GCH for a mixed play on both China primarily and Hong Kong secondary. GCH is a bargain at the moment compared to it's highs in the 20s. China's a huge growth market with lots of room to move. That they will move is certain, when GCH will pan out is the uncertain.

With China positioning for Asian Economic Powerhouse status ahead of Japan like the US is the Powerhouse for North America, a play on Hong Kong without a play on China would be risky in my opinion.

There may be better China plays, I haven't bothered to check lately but EWH is a good pure Hong Kong play.

I like em both for long term. 2@
