Who validates the dial-up setup? The repair person that the telco sends to do it. Who validates the setup of 98% of the software sold today? The support teams which are the largest part of software developer's employment costs. Who validates a new peripheral? Peripherals don't need validation but usually this is subsumed under the mfger's support and fulfillment teams. Most users don't do validation. The few hackers which do often create even more uncompensated seller support. I have learned not to get into "validation" too deeply and so my systems are usually up.
