Greg-I have 5000 shares from 98 and haven't sold a share. I have traded additional shares, but have not touched my core holding. The stock has had a very good run of late and people will naturally take profits. Also, no news is not good news as far as JohnQInvestor is concerned. Then one has to consider the rumblings of the Fed. All is well, and nothing has changed with this company as far as I can see. If anything, after reading Fatboy's posts, things are looking better.

Back to lurking and learning,
B

I have been in CREE twice - the first time I let myself get shaken out when Greenberg was trashing the company in The Street.com - and the second time (the most recent) I started buying shares in the 50's through 90's when it finally dawned on me the potential that SCi had beyond LEDs and "fake diamonds" (quoting Greenberg). As of right now I just plan to sit tight and watch and wait unless something fundamental changes. Kindest regards.

Well, I called my broker to buy 100 shares today as soon as I saw it cross the screen at 165 on the CNBC ticker today. It took a few minutes to get through, and I ended up paying 173. Damn!! Anyway, today was a gift from the "irrational doom & gloom" crowd.

Take it easy,
Ross

Greg:

I sold common this morning after realizing a >100% gain and am planning on using the proceeds to pick up some september ATMs on Tuesday morning.

Did you sell any? Why/why not?

Noah

I haven't sold any of my shares but bought more today so I would have some 'extra' shares for trading purposes. I started buying in the 70's and have bought more on most of CREE's pullbacks. I will, maybe, start trading my 'extra shares' if CREE breaks strongly through 200 and there doesn't appear to be any 'new' news coming in the ST. I am, most likely, waiting on certain 'significant' events though before I start trading.

Hi Greg:

In answer to your general question.... no, I am not selling CREE. I have been buying Sept 120 calls, CQRID, this week and bought more today. I think that you were specifically interested if anyone was selling, but I wanted to let you know that someone is still buying, too!

Have a good weekend.

Rick

<<I would like to see a show of hands on who has sold, and why.>>

Greg: I will admit that at the beginning of the week CREE got to the point where it was over 1/3 of my total holdings. I cut my position back (to about 15% of total holdings) when CREE was in the $180-185 range. I still LOVE CREE's long term prospects and it is my largest core position. Yet, it made sense to diversify and add a little more Fiber to my diet <G>. I have recently added stocks like FBCE, IFCI and IMPT to my portfolio. IMO, 2000 will be a GREAT year for selective bandwidth and fiber optic stocks. Yet, CREE is still one of my favorites and it is early in its lifecycle.

Good Luck Investing.

Best Regards,

Scott

Greg, last shares I sold were at 121. I bought 'em a few days earlier in the low 90's - they were trading shares. Sadly, the last of my trading shares. I have not bought or sold since. The highest basis on any shares I have now is mid 70's. I think I will hold a while longer - can you say "years?"
