I agree with you, dear gypsy. She may not get used and tossed because life has a way of turning all expectations on their heads; but a woman who enters into such a depersonalizing contest kisses her personal power goodbye. Personal power depends upon self-respect and respect for one's own worth as something attractive to others. So much of life is a contest of one sort or another. To set aside one's most powerful attributes--intelligence, wit, empathy, charm, kindness, sexual awareness, and myriad other gifts--is to abandon one's very self and that self's ability to command respect and summon attraction from others.
