I find the above statement interesting. In what way did Tivo change their lives?

The statement was probably a bit strong - Tivo isn't changing lives for people like having two kids changed mine!

However, it certainly has changed their viewing habits, and made their viewing experience much more positive. In general I think what happens is people who are busy still like to find the time to relax in front of the tube and they would prefer to spend that time watching something they really want to watch, versus what happens to be on at the time.

I have digital cable with a basic TV Guide program guide and this has made it very nice for me to make sure that when I am sitting in front of the TV I have as much information at hand to determine what show I want to watch. It also makes it nice in that I can set reminders for shows I don't want to miss. But this feature has not been for me the big kick that people are getting out of Tivo.

That said, I still like the GMST busines model of licensing the technology, and I like the vision of what I think is going to happen with the e-books. So I'm long and will be longer on major dips.
