EMKR JDSU deal?

I'm sorry to be so pedantic but WHAT deal? I can't find it anywhere. Also EMKR is a Solar Cell company no? What does it have to do with CREE? (scratching my head here)...

Could you please post a link to the news item? I hate to be blindsided by something I don't know about....*smile*...

Thank You...

Regards.....

I'm not really aware of the JDSU/EMKR deal but Emcore could be an indirect threat to CREE.

Emcore's key technology in this respect are it's machines (that it wishes to sell) and potentially the processes to deposit layers of materials like GaN.

They have a JV with GE called Gelcore. The objective is to use Blue leds to replace incandescent lights (ie, "white leds").

JDSU is probably more interested in certain high speed materials like GaAs but it would be silly of them to neglect the potential of solid state blue lasers which could be made from GaN. Those would fit in well with pumping information down fiber optics.

I doubt this has any direct relation to the stock movement. IMO CREE is suffering from the general downdraft, profit taking, and Greenspan.

I haven't sold any shares and frankly I would be thrilled if the stock tanked to $100. A lot of my orders did not get picked up in the Jan downdraft because I was too greedy (read cheap).
