In World War II, James Roosevelt, a marine corps major, exec of Carlson's Raiders landed with the troops on Makin Island. It was a disaster -- and the troops withdrew to their submarines and the few marines separated and left behind, were murdered and eaten by the Japanese. All of his sons -- Franklin Jr., James, Eliot and John were in the services and were exposed to war with little known special protection. Eisenhower's son John was a West Pointer and a combat soldier. That was our tradition in the 1940's and 50's. Every body took his chances. I served in the Marine Corps with a son of an admiral (and grandson of a commandant of the Marine Corps.) As privates in uniform we dined from time to time with a table full of admirals at the Army-Navy club. My friend never received any recognition or protection because of his family connections. John McCain was the grandson of a great naval hero beloved by every naval pilot like G. H. W. Bush because of his heroism in lighting up the fleet after the Marianas turkey shoot. John's father was CINCPAC, yet his son flew into combat and was shot down and served 5 1/2 years (1 and 1/2 years unnecessarily after his father became CINCPAC). His heroism is obvious. And you insult all American servicemen by your lies. I have read of these charges of Gore being "protected" and I demand some evidence. If you are at all an honorable person, you will furnish some evidence to support your stories. I think they are lies, as well as being totally absurd. I want sworn evidence and documents. You are spreading lies which insult Nixon. the department of defense, Senator Gore, Al Gore, and our country itself. Please produce some evidence or admit that you are a rumour monger trying to destroy other people's reputations while hiding under an fake name. Straighten up man! Tell the truth! Stop lying.
