Richard Harmon, my personal opinion is that this building will be used for other purposes than worshipping God. On the surface it seems that they are fighting "City Hall". But the people involved in the construction of this building surely must have been aware of the city codes for zoning. So many phases of building must be approved by inspections that I find it difficult to believe that officials turned a blind eye, and only now realized that weddings and funerals would take place in a church.

Officials in Jacksonville gave their blessing to building a new Presbyterian church, but with a significant caveat: no weddings or funerals will be allowed.

I think there is much more involved in this situation than the public is being led to believe. And my instinct tells me that it has much more to do with filling someone's pockets with money than a 1st Amendment battle.

Blaming problems on God and religion is such a familiar tune that many people may not look into other motives in this situation. Sad, but true.
