Good find Ausdauer; however, we need our management to be more proactive in establishing the guidelines that vendors must accept for inventory in the channel. In fact, I would like to see a whole different business model where IM rents warehouse space, charges both the customer and the supplier for product inventory and fulfillment. The supplier sets and controls all pricing; IM just passes it through.

IM's contribution to each party is a state-of-the art real time Internet inventory tracking (by region) system that provides information to each Supplier and each customer (ultimately to the end-user). Perhaps even a sophisticated order system where each supplier maintains their own price tables by region and/or customer. IM provides the product fulfillment, order tracking and inventory information and can share billing information with the end-customer and the supplier. The Supplier is responsible for all accounts receivable, product returns, customer credits and billing.

IM is basically just responsible for the logistic of product fulfillment and control and updating the real time Internet information systems described above.

IM should be able to structure a fee structure based on total units shipped but independent of any of the pricing or inventory risk associated with the "old" channel wholesale/retail model.

I am looking for a new CEO with experience in the logistics business, perhaps Federal Express or UPS. In the future IM should be selling (1) warehouse space, (2) custom information systems, (3) order tracking & logistic information and (4) customer service inquiries.

Just some ideas to bounce around....
