Tim,

I agree that he is genuine and a lot people (in the last couple of weeks) have implied that when they see the "genuine" McCain it scares them.

I think McCain is handling himself, and actually is probably a bit surprised that he has gotten as far as he has. He has a real chance and just three weeks he did not. That going to create some stress, for him and Bush.

I think if we look at everyone who made in to the house or senate, we are going to find examples of behavior that contradict their declared principles. It is rather a question of degree for me, and I see McCain willing to burn a few bridges to do the right things (at least the "right things" per his platform).

For some to say this guy would be fast on the trigger is absurd. I think the difference with McCain would be had he been president during the Gulf War he would have finished the job George Senior did not. This would have saved money, and lives, including those of Iraq's citizens who were killed in the later bombings.

I think McCain will commit forces to win, and recent statements regarding Clinton's efforts in December 98 would support this.

Several here have hinted at the real reason the establishment Republicans don't want McCain in there. They can't control him.

I just know that with Shrubby things will stay the same. Special interests will call the real shots and I will pay the bill. I would not be unhappy about paying the current level of taxes that I do, provided I thought they were being used efficently and for good purpose. I don't know for sure if McCain will give me any better value, but I do know that Shrubby won't.

Gore? He will spend as much as he can. I admit that I don't really know Gore. Sometimes I think he is brighter that he wants people to think. I think Gore is in a tough spot with Clinton around his neck.

Then again, Gore has distanced himself from Clinton for sometime.

McCain is the best choice for me. McCain is about reform and the others are not (Keyes I just discount, I like him but know there is NO chance).

6PM and the real projections should start coming in. I stand by my original projects. Keyes get 4% and McCain over Bush by 6%.

Have a good one.

TH

Is it true that during his career in the Navy McCain crashed three fighter planes? I think I heard that two of these times he "ran out of gas".
Would appreciate a clarification.
