Some data from Infostor that may be of use as things develop........

IDC ranks
RAID vendors
Not surprisingly EMC will top the list of external RAID vendors this year, ranked by projected revenues In fact, EMC is expected to garner more than 26% (over $4 billion) of the total market ($15.4 billion), double the 12.9% market share for Compaq and 10.6% for IBM. According to IDCs 1999 Worldwide Disk Systems Market Forecast and Review, here are the expected rankings and revenues (external RAID only):

1999 revenue cs million)
1. EMC 4,042.6
2. Compaq 1,983.2
3. IBM 1,633.1
4. Sun 1,238.7
5. Hitachi 668.1
6. HP 525.0

HDS is #11@313.3. Is a separate listing from Hitachi.

Note this does not include the RAID of DGN....Clariion is # 17 @ 122.5. Aviion is another 120 million. EMC is bigger than most realize. Big enough to drive interoperability a long way.

STEK is #18 @120.6
NTAP is a very respectable #10@ 377.9
