No, it gets worse. Lizzie found a new, blue roller-ball pen and crunched it up under the downstairs computer desk while I was outside holding the ladder so Chris could cut down the hanging gutter. Chris wondered why there were blue paw prints on the door, so I followed the blue footprint trail and found the ink all over the beige carpet. I've discovered that water dissolved some of it, that water mixed with tsp got rid of some of the pigment but turned it bright purple, that my mother borrowed the shopvac, that rubbing alcohol will take off the rest of the color if you sponge it off with paper towels or rags, that we only have one roll of paper towels, that last weekend I threw away the old sheets I've been saving for rags for years because I haven't needed them, but that's ok because we only have one bottle of rubbing alcohol. I've got the footprints off, and the major spill, a foot in diameter, is now a light lavender-grey. In the meantime, Nick washed the dog, and dried her as much as he could, but she was still somewhat wet, so she came downstairs to stand against me as she shook herself, and when I moved away, followed me. Nick wants to know when we can go do something, because he's bored.
