Juniper rumor perhaps...and potential big customer which was probably the company hinted about a while back on a "non-exclusive" contract basis; plus heavy "popular" trading on companies that have potential without good earnings, as the e-stocks did in Jan.1999...going South later on...why would a company purchase another company with its stock price so high at the moment? Why didn't a suitor buy them earlier?..and maybe Tellabs should have gone after them again..." crucified (stock-wise) when you do buy and crucified if you don't!" People just want to make money and don't really care what a company does..."immediate" gratification. We all fall victim.
