David, thanks for the IBD info. It stated " The article goes on to say, "Applied Micro Circuits, a sensational performer that's made a fivefold move in just six months, was sold by a majority of the funds that traded it recently." The issue for me is what does recently mean? I thought I remember reading that this data referred to last qtr. - ie. 9/99 - 12/99, but I may be wrong.

In any event, for other reasons I have been compiling IBD data for the last month and have these statistics for
AMCC - date, eps, rs and the letter ratings as follows:

1/07/00 98 97 AAB
1/14/00 99 99 AAB
1/21/00 99 97 AAA
1/30/00 99 97 AAA
2/07/99 99 98 AAA
2/11/99 99 98 AAA
2/22/00 99 98 AAA

You see the picture? You can't buy better ratings than this. So if the mutual funds/institutions are selling who is buying? Should we not have seen a drop in the above ratings given all this selling?

I don't have the answer but there seems to be a disconnect between what IDB is reporting on institutional activity and what they report on a daily basis.

It is confusing and I don't have the answer but the first place to start is what period are we talking about.
