Thread, this is the article on which the audio clip syndey was kind enough to provide us with was based:

"Ciena Revenue Shortfall Disappoints"

streetadvisor.com

Especially of interest is the following paragraph:

>>However, the slight shortfall in revenues does not bode well for Ciena. High expectations are currently built into the price of stocks in general but optical gear companies are particularly affected, so we were a bit disappointed with the company's results. We would have liked to see a much stronger quarter, particularly since Lucent (NYSE: LU) reported a shortfall.<<

The last sentence may not take into account the difference of revenue recognition timing different vendors have. Implied in the sentence is that Ciena should have taken business away from Lucent but did not according to the revenue reported. But why does this new business revenue have to have been immediately recognized? I am not saying he does not have a point-what I am saying is that it may be too early to say we see proof of that supposition. Just a thought....

Never would place all buyers in one category(could say daytrading is instant gratification and has had great
effect on the prices of stocks...many of the big institutional "moneymakers are scratching their heads"...I wish the best to all that trade with Cien...Terayon looks like the next big moneymaker.("Now I understand your posts"...I don't even understand my posts.) ;-)
