I recently heard Paul Gigot, the political columnist, speak at a luncheon. One of his observations really struck a chord: He noted that this election is far more about character and biography than about specific issues--to the point where many McCain supporters really can't get down to any detail when asked why they support him. Their support has to do with what they perceive to be his character and biography. Gore is clearly using this mood to strike at Bradley before Bradley can use it on him and to deflect attention from his other problem, which is Clinton by association.
