Elmer, Re: "A 0.18-micron Willa-mette is currently ramping at five fabs; six will be running full tilt by the end of 2000, Yu added. "

My take is the writer mix the two thing together, i.e. 5 fab at 0.18 now and a six is coming on line. But I doubt it has anything to do with Willamette as of now given that even Cumine is in tight supply.

Willamette currently ramping in 5 fabs?????

Sure sounds early for that many, doesn't it. I hope Coppermine can be the cash cow long enough to allow Willamette to come up like an Intel "classic" CPU.

Elmer,

Noticed it? I highlighted it in bold.

One would think that the author recorded Yu's quote to get it right. Perhaps he thinks he heard Yu say it in his keynote. I haven't listened to the replay yet but now I'm really intrigued.

developer.intel.com

Maybe later tonight I'll do it.

It is probably a misquote but if it is can we call it UNFUD?
