Reseller, I was just reading the business news releases from Reuters this evening and ran across one titled: "Nikkei easier but Old Japan stocks lend support" ( link: biz.yahoo.com ). What caught my attention was the following snip: "Core Internet stock Softbank Corp finished the morning session higher, recovering from an earlier steep loss as buyers finally stepped in for bargain hunting. Declines in Softbank's shares totalled as much as 42 percent since a closing peak of 182,000 yen on February 18."

Coincidentally, February 18 was the day after IM announced that the company's position in Softbank represented an unrealized gain of approximately $450 million net of tax. Ouch! Although this certainly stings, I have to question what negative impact (if any) Softbank's slide has been having on IM's share price. It seems to me as though it has not been much of a factor, but that's gut-feel and pure guesswork.
