All this fancy verbiage about old line cos reminds me of the Detroit guys whining about Jap/Euro cars. They screwed up in their planning, they were secretive with shareholder acess to their own dough and deals, and the net shined a light on the new cos. It's just not an oligopoly anymore and in case they haven't noticed that's a good deal for everybody..... another group of dinosaurs bites the dust.
