The fear does a lot of damage, imho. Mortal fear. You know how "they say" kids think they're immortal? Well, we sort of all do, until something starts killing us, and then we never forget it.

I don't really think it's a positive, "live in the here and now" fear, either. It's not pleasant, and it may not be useful in any way.

I don't know.

Maybe it's okay if it doesn't go on too long.

What wonderful, wonderful news, jp! I hope the coach put him in that game, if only briefly. I hope he's a man who understand's what the coaching of young people -- and REAL winning-- is about.

Last night we played Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?; the boys gave it to me for my birthday. CW's friend Matt was amazing-- he has a photographic memory and these weird facts just stick in his head. LIke the name of the Dukes of Hazard's car, and the name of the first dog in space. No one has won a million yet, though, even combining all our great intellects. No one knew the name of Perot's '96 running mate. After we lost, we still didn't recognize this person. Big hint. It was NOT Stockdale.

Then Ammo and I stayed up late watching Stir of Echos and I had NIGHTMARES.

I've heard it's five years before they use the word cured. I hope he hears that word.

He's probably a little out of shape after that battle to go at roundball too hard but with the latest news he can look forward to next year.
