All right- but it's a quite different kind of contextual relativism, than the kind of "pure" relativism that I described (of course I understand nothing is completely pure, or that pureness itself may mean nothing) . That's only what relativism means to me, and of course I wouldn't kill anyone over it.

Morally ambiguous contextual relativism doesn't do much for me- although on a case by case basis I'm sure it would be useful in terms of self justification.

Fundamentals of lying.

1. If I tell the truth will the result be positive or negative for me?
2. If I tell a lie is there any way that someone can prove I lied?
3. If the answer to #2 is no then it is perfectly okay to lie if it makes you look good or gets you out of hot water.
