I don't really think the numbers matter that much. The Nazis killed far more Jews than the Americans killed Native Americans, but that was because the Jews were easier to catch. Were the Nazis more evil because their task was less difficult?

Pretty simple, every group that has a cause want's to skew numbers to make their cause seem more important. It has become PC not to challenge increasing numbers. It reminds me of the old TV show "Get Smart" that spoofed the James Bond type of movies. Maxwell Smart would quote a statistic and would then say " would you believe...".
