the neopoint 1000 phone does connect direct to a serial port. does not require a pc card...comes with software and all connectors. i liked having a complete package like that. total cost around $450 seemed reasonable since
it has the biggest screen by far and handles a lot of palm functions. the screen should be good for scrolling e-mail without the pc.

does the qcom fax/modem pc card use x jack? i saw that dell has a new laptop with an x-jack connector built-in. i was wondering if that allowed the phone a direct connection with no pc card using a slot.

i have a dacom gold card international pc card modem that is gsm and isdn ready...does it fit in this loop anywhere?

maybe between all of us we can sort out the best current solution.
