Steven, res-<<<I do not question the existence of the voice that guides us. I'm saying it is a collective creation of our race, not something from the outside.

We are still making it, which is why it is so important to think about what we do.>>

Ahhh, but this is exactly why it is not such a clear and easy answer to come by.

Ok, since the term "Natural law" sets up so many boundaries preventing us from exploring this further. How about we simply call it our "conscience"?

Consciousness is a universal state of our being, but yet it cannot be defined in precise terms. It can only be experienced. It's the meeting point of the subjective and the objective. There can be different states of consciousness, but they can not alter the basic nature of consciousness. Consciousness is therefore an unchanging entity. But here is the real tricky part. The only way for us to study consciousness is through our own conscious mind. In other words, what we are looking for is what is looking.

I believe we're mostly in agreement though. (at least if I understand you correctly) are conscious is telling us something. It guides us toward resolutions and decisions. But what is it saying? Does it say to our inner self. How can I make a decision which is dishonest, non-courageous, unkind or hurtful? Or is it trying to guide us to find the RIGHT answer, aligned with certain principles? I would say the latter.

Then the question which comes to my mind is, do these messages change over time? In other words, if I am using your theory correctly here. Do we pass down a different set of guiding principles as we change as a species over time? Tough answer, I would say...maybe, however some messages (laws, guiding principles) have remained constant.

I can't prove this any more than you can prove they have changed. So we are left with an enigma. An unknown and unknowable. Not the difference between a thinker and non thinker.
