I suppose the easiest way to handle that is as follows;

Wait until 9 AM.
Log onto SI.
Go to your PeopleMarx.
Check Jerry's last 10 posts.

If the BP has changed, 9 of them will be mentioning that.

There has to a workaround. Sounds like one can get the same gist of the change in another fashion, whether it's A/D as you suggest or something else. Hell, the way GE has been driving the DJIA for years I even have a chart on one page to show me the GE pattern so I get a sense of what the DJIA might do the next day. If you had a melange of GE, Cisco, MSFT, INTC, KO, and perhaps 5 or maybe a dozen other Large Caps you could probably develop a mini-version of the S&P for example. It's a Cap-Weighted Index, if those stocks are going South the SnP ain't going North for example.
