I also came back to SI after a long layoff, and saw that PM. I didn't much care for it, mostly because of the way things were worded; the same purpose could have been achieved in a much less offensive way if more care had gone into the writing of it. Others who have remained on SI, and who I respect, have told me that the rules are not that strictly enforced, and are mostly there to deal with really extreme abuses. I can't say anything with a base of experience here; I have never had any encounters with SI Admin, not even a warning. It is my secret sorrow.

Hi CGB...I think that the 'new rules' are simply a clarification of the 'old rules'...however, the wording of the 'new rules' make it really clear that the content herein is managed in a fashion that will promote the wishes, goals and interests of the owners/administrators of the virtual community. "...the Terms of Use explicitly state that we have the complete authority to administer Silicon Investor in any way that we see fit. In other words, if we find behavior that is contrary to the goals and wishes of the community, then we can and will take action, regardless of whether that behavior is explicitly mentioned in the Silicon Investor Terms of Use or not." I think the above is clear, honest communication. I seriously doubt that any "Very nice people who write interesting posts" have been unfairly suspended.
